new home assessments can carry out the domestic air tightness testing to the relevant ATTMA technical standard in order to satisfy the requirements of Approved Document L1A of the Building Regulations.
We provide a complete air tightness testing service for dwellings using specially designed equipment. The blower door testing method measures the amount of air that flows into or out of a dwelling at various pressure differences between inside and outside of the dwelling under testing. A UKAS calibrated fan and metering equipment are used to measure airflow at a number of pressure differences of between 30Pa and 80Pa, and deliver the final rating in m3/m2/hr at a pressure of 50pa.
The process achieves very accurate test results as required by the Building Regulations and the relevant technical standards.
Testing is performed when the building facades, external envelope, and internal finishes are complete.
Once the building has reached this state of completion, our engineer will prepare and test the building. We always accommodate our Clients schedules, carrying out the test at a time which suits them. If the building fails to achieve the required rating our engineer will assist in identifying areas of remedial works which are required, and wait on site for these to be completed before retesting.
